Progress Updates:
YOU DID IT! YOU MADE IT A SUCCESS for 4 years!
A look back at our last Summer, 2019
The last Wednesday of The Bookmobile's Summer route has come and gone. The final numbers are yet to be tallied. But we know this, it was an amazing success beyong our imaginations.
Participants...
On average any given Wednesday 8-10 students at each stop with several adults along. Some weeks nearly 100 folks were invovled from the time it hit the pavement to the time The Bookmobile was nestled in it's garage at the end of the day.
Books...
The Bookmobile found a most generous ally this last summer as the Jackson Heights School District allowed patrons access to checking out books from the JH Libraries through The Bookmobile. To date as well The Bookmobile has been able to build it's own community reserves of brand new books worth several thousand dollars (via various grants & donations) and used books as well (via ongoing donations).
On the Radar...
-The Bookmobile found itself noticed this summer by The Holton Recorder, The Topeka Capital Journal & a film crew from Kansas State University. All highlighted what is great about our rural areas. Folks serving others through creativity, sweat & a willingness to see neighbors taken care of.
-While The Bookmobile went great, we will definitely be meeting in the comming months to see how we can continue to make it's services possible again next summer with additional volunteers and staff. Interested in how you can get involved?
